Phoebe Tave
Phoebe Tave, Professional Marketing & Management, Inc., Largo, FL

If you are considering using this person as a real estate agent, you definitely should read this:

I was just trying to rent a house. I applied for one with Phoebe Tave of Professional Marketing & Management here in Largo, Florida on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. I gave her my application and two certified checks, as she instructed, one for $50 as the application fee and one for $625 as half the first month's rent.

Phoebe Tave said she would let me know within a couple of days. On Thursday the 17th, she called me to say that in order to get this house, I would have to put up a $7,500 deposit, plus pay the first month ($1,250), plus a security deposit of $900 - a total of $9,650.

My credit score, by the way, is 648 at this time. There is a foreclosure on file for the house my wife and I just sold on a "short sale", and the forclosure will be dropped at closing and not be on our record. Phoebe was made aware of all that, but she said the house would still cost me nearly $10K to rent.

Of course, I told her that would not work for me. Phoebe Tave said she would mail my certified check for $625 back to me. I asked that instead, she meet me that day so I could get that money back and continue my search for a house. I let her know that I had very limit time to find a place and move. She agreed to have it dropped off at my office. That afternoon, the check was delivered as promised.

But here's the interesting part - she had voided my certified cashier's check! See for yourself

Now that was just downright unprofessional! What that did was to prevent me from simply depositing my check back into my account. Instead it forced me to go to my bank the next day (Friday), get them to put a stop payment on it, then wait until the next business day (Monday the 21st), then get a new check issued to me, then deposit it back into my account.

Why did she void my cashiers check? It was my money to begin with! As a real estate "professional", she must have known that by voiding my check, it would delay my use of that money, cost me two trips to my bank, and waste a bunch of my time.

And this person has the audacity to call herself a "professional"! NOT! Beware - watch your back if you have any dealings with this person.
